Our Long Island guy again. Last year he was young and I think a bit of a surprise when he signed for nominal money. But he was always another extreme projections guy (6'6", 210) that I am guessing was in their long term plans to start (but stay at GCL since he was still 18).

Brown got 60K and a scholarship last year which is very modest. Would be awesome if he develops into a prospect! I agree, Andy, they were probably protecting him a bit last year at his age and with his build by pitching him in relief. When they take a 6'6" righty I think they see "starter" engraved on his forehead.

Didn't get a chance to jump into Squire's "Who is your under the radar prospect?" yesterday but I have a 1 and 1A...both lefty relievers. I still believe Tom Windle will pitch in the big leagues this year and make a contribution. He is #1 and l also like lefty Jeff Singer, a free agent reliever who is now closing at Reading.

Interestingly enough, both got saves last night and I cannot help but think the Phils are auditioning both of them for possible late inning roles in Philadelphia. Not saying they can handle it, but with all this talk about acquiring Hand, it would be nice if the Phils could take care of this late inning lefty situation in house.

I would NEVER trade Franco even up for Hand, never. It's my old "don't trade a hitter for a pitcher" theory, and one that is amplified even more since said pitcher is a reliever.

Might be nothing....but Alec Bohm came out of the game a couple innings after being hit by a pitch in the Crosscutters' game. I don't know where he was hit. He did play the field for an inning before being removed with the Cutters trailing 5-2 in bottom of the 7th. He was 0-1 with a walk and the hit batsman before coming out.

I hear you CD but I think The Phillies have given up on Franco and will take anything they can get for him. Kapler has been the biggest player backer of any manager I can remember. Does what he say about Franco make you believe he has a future here?

But Phillies manager Gabe Kapler, in a recent conversation with The Athletic’s Matt Gelb and other reporters, did not sound convinced Franco was a long-term solution.

“The profile that he is has kind of been who he is — which is a guy who hits home runs and sometimes in bunches,” Kapler said. “He has a lot of power. He hasn’t been able to consistently get on base over a long period of time. And that feels like what makes a major-league third baseman. It’s a guy who gets on base and hits homers and plays good defense.

“So, if you have all three, you are a regular at third base for a really long time. If you have two of the three, it’s a challenge. And, right now, Maikel is dealing with working on his D and he’s also dealing with adding one more offensive tool to the third-base mix.

“The home runs are going to be there. If you give him 500 plate appearances, he’s going to hit you 25 homers. But that doesn’t make a third baseman at the major-league level long term.”

Looks as though Zach Green also left Reading's game after being hit by a pitch. Green was lifted for a pinch runner.

So, two things to watch when lineups post tomorrow, if we don't hear anything prior to that.

Yeah we're a bit OT here but if Amaro or Klentak had said that about Franco we'd be ripping them for destroying his trade value. That we aren't is because we already recognize how little he has, IMO.

He turned away from an up and in fastball and got hit on his back or high up on the back of his left arm. Hopefully it didn’t result in anything more than soreness

Quick check of Twitter (Mike Drago) shows Green was "plunked on the head" by his pitch. So I'm sure he's going through the protocol before being cleared to return.
