Nick Maton, who turned 22 just before the season this year, is more than holding his own in CLW. It looks like the organization likes him since they have been batting him lead-off for the most part. Lefty-hitting SS with some power is OPSing .762 on the season before his 2/4, 2 2B performance today. 28 BB/40K in 215 ABs is more than good enough. I like this kid.

CLW with the win, Grant Dyer, who should be heading to Reading soon, with his 6th save and boasts a 0.54 ERA. I want to know what his stuff looks like post surgery.

At least until tonight, Reading and Clearwater both have identical 42-32 records. Not too shabby. Both are fun to keep track of with their updated line-ups. While the system is a thin crew of athletes with high upsides, it might be worth looking at the Phil's best players at each position throughout the system. Kind of a mid-year All-Star team by position. Would that give us a clue as to what the big league team will look like in 2-3 years and whether it is a cause for some optimism? I don't have the knowledge to pull that off but would love to see what the "experts" might guesstimate.

Big bonus 2 years ago ($460K). But this is his second year in the DSL and usually you hope they move up after the first year. So a name to watch even if he is not going to crack any top 30 lists yet.

What is with Listi? Struggles in Reading, gets promoted to Lehigh, .500 BA so far (SSS).
Though I'm thinking this is gonna be weird year in the minors with a complete revamp of the development staff (everything you know is wrong).

His April was so poor, I had wondered whether he started the season with an injury and battled through it. After finishing last season at Reading with OPS of 0.819 after 217 AB, I anticipated him putting up big numbers early before being promoted to Lehigh. An.OPS of 369 OPS for April - even if it was only a SSS of 62 AB - suggested something was wrong. Now, he appears to have returned (anti-regressed? ) to his earlier form.
