Surprised no one has mentioned this...I noticed both Williams and Grullon left last nights games and are not in the lineup tonight. I suspect both got hurt, Williams was hit by a pitch. Does anyone have updates on the two, hope they are minor injuries.

I honestly thought Ramey was drafted just to entice his higher drafted teammate Carpenter to sign, then Ramey signed and Carpenter didn't. Ramey has been pretty good. Doesn't turn 19 until 8/31

SSS, however, it's promising that Gowdy has given up just 1ER over his past 11 innings.

Medina had poor command of his secondaries. He threw a lot of cookie sliders from the stretch. None of his pitches looked good from the stretch.

Addison Russ is an interesting guy- pitches up with a good fastball- like 93-95, great dipping/tailing change that got a lot of bad swings, and a usable curve/slider looking pitch. Loves me good velo relievers with killer change ups.

Worth noting that when Jose Gomez was acquired two summers ago, he was noted to be a very good hitter, and even has made some Phillie Top 30 lists along the way, often met with derision from many who follow the team's pharm system closely.

Yet, for almost years since the deal [believe it was with the Rockies] Gomez simply did not hit and I often wondered if the Phils had adjusted his offensive game hoping that short term struggles would lead to long term gains. Who knows?

What I do know is he has been hitting better this year and quite well lately, culminating in what was undoubtedly his finest night in a Fightin uniform last night. Gomez hit homers in BOTH games of the DHer and his second of the night won an extra inning battle 3-2.

When the Phils acquire a young minor leaguer [and at 22 he is still young] I always like to study his past to see what we are likely to get...does he hit, can he run, does he play multiple positions? Gomez answered in the affirmative to all of these in my view.

I have noticed the Phils have moved Gomez all over the place this year...SS, 3b, 2b and I thought that perhaps they were hoping to get a Kingery-lite player out of him. I have no idea how they view him but on a team that sure has some guys worth following, Gomez may soon become another.
