Good to see Cozens with another hit in the Allentown game. After yesterday's explosion, in addition to 6 HR on the year, he came into the game batting .284. It would be nice if he has completed his adjustment to AAA. He is still young enough to become a MLB starter. I really liked him a lot at Reading 2 seasons ago. It's great to see him back on top of his game. He really runs well for such a big man. How many guys his size can you put in CF and not have him look awful. I think he's just there because Phillies are prepping Quinn for RF in Philly.

Well he did push his K rate down to 35%. We all know that of course Ks are now OK, but 2 singles for Cozens to me means 2 fewer Ks as much as anything else. If he could ever push his K rate down to 30%, BABIP will definitely be his friend because good things happen when he makes contact.

Evidently the more, looked at, prospect also. he accepted his college offer from OSU before his sophomore season started, he was that highly recruited. obviously, injuries have derailed him so far, but he says he's finally healthy. he has gotten off to a decent start too. hopefully this can continue and he can climb his way to the show.

I believe it is only fair to mention that while we lament the struggles of Moniak and Randolph we should celebrate the improvement of Hernandez and Pujols. A case can be made that potential wise, the Phils would be better served if Hernandez [power and ability to play infield or outfield] and Pujols [king sized power, great arm in RF] become players than if Moniak [limited power] and Randolph [just looks like a mistake pick, probably never as good as we were told due to his limited ability to play more than LF] were to make it..

It might be fair to mention this, but neither of these players (Pujols, Hernandez) is even in our top 30 prospects. It's a bad thing when the guys at the top of the prospect list play badly, even when the lower guys play well. Those guys are, at best, probably organizational filler. We'd be far better off if those guys could exchange stats with Randolph and Moniak.

It's hard to argue that a guy at the bottom of our prospect list 'improving' means more than how well your 1.1 pick is doing. Pujols is doing a lot better than he did last year, but he's not doing great AND he's repeating at CLW. If he repeats and doesn't do better, he's basically dead as a prospect and wouldn't be with the organization in 2019. He's currently posting a .752 OPS at CLW, which is virtually identical to his OPS in Lakewood 2 seasons ago, and it's easier to post a high OPS at CLW than at Lakewood. His SLG of .440 is identical to what he did at LKWD, and since his BA is up a bit, his ISO is actually down from .199 at LKWD to ,173 now. His k rate is slightly improved, but still awful.

Jan Hernandez does look quite a lot better at Reading this season. Perhaps he is developing into something. He's not going to replace Moniak and Randolph and he is from the 2013 draft class, so not at all indicative of how well we are drafting now. He might be evidence of instructional changes clicking with him. His improvement isn't a Reading effect, because his power has all but vanished. He could be a SSS BABIP beneficiary, because just 59 AB with few walks. His K-rate is down significantly -- that and the lost power suggests the team is having him work on contact. Is the .329 BA sustainable? I tend to doubt it, but would love to be proven wrong. As far as 3B go, I see Walding as having the better year, thus far, with a few more AB, as well.

When Moniak was drafted he was at 170#. Now he's at 200#. That's a massive change in a short amount of time. TPTB say that it hasn't affected his quickness but who knows. They've changed Moniak's stance in attempts to get more power. If they didn't like his physical frame and lack of power, why did they draft him #1?
