Having 4 first round picks at the same level might be an interesting fact. But it would also be a testimony to the widely divergent trajectories and likely outcomes of Top 10 picks.

Bohm reaching Double A would be expected or mildly positive this year.
Haseley remaining at Double A all year would be a disappointment and signal a low ceiling.
Moniak's age makes Double A fine, the issue is that he has been mediocre to poor his entire career save for a few months last year.
Cornelius Randolph is a failed pick at this point and is running out of time to continue in the organization.

I was just wondering if a club ever had 4 1st round picks on the same minor league team. I think everyone has beaten to death their beliefs and opinions about the performance of our most recent 1st round picks so didn't mean to spur those discussions.

Maybe Tampa has had an instance of 4 1st round picks on the same minor league team since they had 10 first round picks in 2011.

It probably has happened more than you think. One of the hidden reasons the Phillies might end up with that is that they drafted a couple of HS players first (Randolph and Moniak) followed by a couple of college players (Haseley and Bohm) who were close to the development level of those HS players when they were drafted.

I'm not sure it makes much difference where he starts. Rather what the Phillies may be looking at is some sort of innings limit.

Howard threw 112 innings last year, so I would think 130-135 innings is the goal this year. At an average of 5 innings a start, he would need to make 26 starts to get his 130 innings. If he starts every 6-7 days, he's basically right there at the end of August which is when the season ends anyway. At 20 innings now, he can make 22 more starts over the next 4 months.

So...I guess what I'm saying is, I don't know why they need to hold him back at all from what is already a very conservative workload.

Would they rather he make, say, 18 starts building up to 6 innings and 100 pitches? I don't know.

Haseley has big night, so does Listi, SSS means let's wait until June before hitting the panic button.

Keep an eye on Ben Brown at Lakewood 19 with a man's body, 15K in 9 IP, they're bringing him along slowly, but don't be surprised if he's a BA top 100 by the end of the year.

Brown is a prospect, but nowhere near top 100 material. He is a nice story. Let's be happy if he is in the Phillies' top 20 though, which might be top 500 in baseball if they made such lists.
