Well, Eastman's first inning in pro ball is, ah, memorable. Or forgettable, depending on who is viewing it.

Strange start for Seabold: every leadoff hitter in his 5 IP got on base. He started the game with 5 straight balls, including the charity strike on ball 4. In the 4th inning walked the leadoff guy on 4 pitches, then started the next batter with two balls. It was like he started each inning not ready to pitch and needing a lengthier warmup. His FB was 89-91 with an 88 and a couple of 92s. The opposing pitcher had a 90-93 FB and the Phillies hitters had a fairly astounding number of swings and clean misses on it. Randolph looked BAAAAD: takes a strike on FB dead center in strikezone then proceeds to K swinging on carp. Another 0-fer for his collection. For a guy drafted for his plus hit tool, viewed as so good that he was popped in early first round despite no power, speed, or D, his hit tool and pitch recognition actually seem below average. Haven't seen him look good in the games we attended. Today was perhaps the most inept Reading game we've attended in the past 3 seasons. Even the official scorer stank: Meneses missed a grounder a step to his right, didn't move, it clanged off his glove, but was ruled a hit. They had difficulty covering first and turning the DP today, although I guess the opposing SS is fairly fast, although he has 0 steals on the season. Bossart looked good behind plate, although he also had an awful throw on a steal attempt. We were outclassed today. The lone run on a solo Meneses HR, a guy whose only other extra base hit in 86 AB was a double. Lots of scouts at game. One was from the Royals.
