To update: Howard finished with 7Ks through 5IP and just one walk. No hits. Not long before he heads off to Reading?

Talent-wise, I don't think Howard has much left to prove at high-A. I could see them wanting to stretch him out a little bit more, but that's it. His first start back, he threw 56 pitches. Today I think it was 67-68 pitches, something like that. I think 80-85 effective pitches is where he would need to get to for the promotion.
So, 1 or maybe 2 more starts in high-A if he stays on this track.

As has been noted, the farm is not resplendent with high grade prospects; however, Howard, Haseley, Bohm and Moniak are progressing well this season. Especially thrilled for Moniak - he's copped a lot flack on various boards!

I'll admit that I'm waiting for somebody non-local to elevate Moniak in their rankings before I get too excited. I'd like to see him make a BA or MLB.com Top 100 list.

I think it's just a mechanism to help be disappointed when he isn't on the list. Moniak doesn't have loud tools at this point. The chances of him making a list are long and therefore will satisfy the narrative.

His stuff looked pretty good- 93-95 mph, slider came in looking like his fastball before darting, and his fastball in to righties looked like it was cutting.

He's got tough stuff to hit, but his approach to reign in his control seems to be to aim for one side of the plate or the other while occasionally missing in the middle.

Yes, but largely because of the Phillies recent past, prior to that. Nola was a 'lucky' success in that a guy fell to us who probably should not have. Bohm/Stott are what first rounders from the top half of the first round SHOULD look like. Haseley is close.

Remember Haseley got off to a really good start too then cooled off. It is nice to see what Stott has done so far, but let him play a few months before pushing fast promotions. I am really curious about the defensive observations. Does he look like a true shortstop?
