Jake Thompson is such a frustrating pitcher. Sometimes he seems like he has great stuff, but he's had quite a few of these batting practice pitcher outings, too.

Durham ended up winning 10-0. Quinn went 3-4, Moore had the only other hit for the Iron Pigs. At one point LHV had the bases loaded with free passes but was unable to capitalize.

Despite the score it was a beautiful night for baseball and they finally serve a stout at the ballpark.

Where is the system compared to 2014 when the affiliates finished a combined 102 games under .500? CLW lost 89 games that year. As of now, the affiliates are a combined fourteen games under .500. Any chance things realistically improve?

From a perspective of talent it's not even close.

We have a top flight system now.

This is almost a case of I don't know and I don't care, as far as comparisons of minor league W-L. What matters to me is how the players who are supposed to be our top prospects are doing: both stats and evidence of growth in correcting their holes of last season and new problems/holes showing up at a higher level of play. So what disturbs me most, in roughly descending order are: the poor performance of our last 3 #1 picks who should be, but don't look like, our MLB OF of the future, along with Ortiz who is also off to a slow start but has youth on his side; Medina; Brito; Lucas Williams

When it comes to MiL W-L, records, I see them as a "where there's smoke, there's fire" kind of thing. A farm system with winning teams is indicative of good, talented prospects while a farm system with losing records is indicative of a lack talent and real prospects. Regardless, my concerns about the early performance are, so far...

*Haseley's slow start
*Ortiz's slow start
*Randolph flatlining after showing some flashes of hope in 2017
*Moniak continuing to crater
*Aside from Kilome and Dominguez, none of our top pitching prospects doing all that well.

As I wrote, the performance of key prospects is very concerning. It's last year's news, but Gowdy essentially missing the whole year also isn't good. But, W-L can be manipulated by a number of over-aged for their level players, including a ton of minor league vets in AAA. We have a fair number of minor league vets in Allentown and Reading -- new for Reading of late, but I can remember when we had virtually no age-appropriate real prospects on the team. We're not as promising as last year, but more prospects at higher levels than we had in the initial seasons of the Allentown franchise.

A more general area of concern: Baseball America listed the team with the best prospects for each organization. For the Phillies, that team was Clearwater. So many disappointing performances to date on that team. For LKWD, Reading, Allentown I think "wait for the warm weather, the guys have to adjust for coming north (of course so does the other team). No such excuse for CLW, although it's early days and the prospects could strut their stuff as they adjust to the level, but for now has to be considered very disappointing.
