Paid my first visit of the year to Reading last night on the occasion of final home game. Quick observations:
-Crawford: looked good, legit 2B to right-center gap in first at bat. Then lined a single past third baseman. Can see the absence of loft in his swing but did not pound everything (SSS) in to the ground. Add in HBP, on base 3 of 5 times. The athleticism is obvious.
-Miller: forgettable night at the plate (0 for 5) including couple strikeouts on tough sliders from RHP. Nothing notable on the night defensively. Clearly has a powerful lower half to the point that he is not built like most shortstops.
-Rincones: DNP, unfortunately.
-All others:
-2B Robert Moore was a sparkplug defensively and offensively. Seemed very fast though has not translated to big SB numbers
-Good to see late arriving call-ups 1B Keaton Anthony and C Jordan Dissin get a shot at AA, though neither did anything noteworthy at the plate.
-Rough pitching night all around, with RHP Skirrow having toughest night. He walked too many and was hit pretty hard as well.
