With the end of the Florida State League Championship series last night (Clearwater fell to Jupiter, 7-4, in the final game), all Phils' clubs except AAA are now finished for 2023. Lehigh Valley's final series of the regular season runs through Sunday:

September 21: Worcester @ Lehigh Valley (RHP Nick Nelson) - 6:45 PM
September 22: Worcester @ Lehigh Valley (RHP Mick Abel) - 7:05 PM
September 23: Worcester @ Lehigh Valley (LHP David Parkinson?) - 6:35 PM

Lehigh Valley remains two games back of Durham for the second-half IL East title (and a playoff slot), with four games to play.

Elimination # down to 3, they probably have to sweep to have a shot (and probably not lose tonight or tomorrow just to stay alive). Durham is 8-2 in their last 10, Iron Pigs 6-4.

Durham is due to lose, then! Just want Sunday to be meaningful--it's really fun for the players to play under pressure, and good for them, too.

Big story on Kroon in the Morning Call today. Not much there beyond highlighting his success this season, and the injury he seems to have overcome.

Kroon is an older player who hasn't played a lot up to this season, and has really stepped up.
One year does not make a career but he profiles as a valuable utility man.

Abel pitching in AAA, I think they're doing late season cameos to figure where they might want players to start next season.

Ironpigs lost, 3-1. Durham won, 10-2. The Ironpigs are three back, with three to play. Elimination number is 1. The fat lady hasn't sung, but she's fully warmed up.

Given the standings, and the weather forecast, I wouldn't bet on it. If the Ironpigs are eliminated (which could happen tomorrow evening), Saturday or Sunday rainouts will presumably not be rescheduled.

Well, that is my thought, but I would think there is a stronger financial incentive to play the games for the Iron Pigs. And perhaps a developmental one too. For that matter do the non-40 man players get paid weekly or per game?

I don't know -- we have picnic area tix for Sunday which includes lunch, etc. I'd be pretty sad (and hungry) to miss that.

Durham has defeated Gwinnett, 3-0. The Ironpigs elimination number, unfortunately, is now zero.

And the Ironpigs fall to Worcester, 3-2. They're four back, with two to play. No post-season here.
