Do we think the Phillies feel like the new blood also gives the Pigs the best shot at erasing Durham's two game lead or is it just more important to let them pitch regardless?

when I said earlier in the year not to sleep on McGowan, I didn't expect this. Awesome move for the kid. this would be a great finish to the minor league season if he and Abel can have a strong finish. looking forward to it and... also a Thresher win for the Championship.

I don't think it has much to do with erasing Durham's lead. Just a reward for an injured prospect making his way back. Maybe also Arizona League eligibility where there are only a certain number of waivers for A ball players given. McGowan could probably use another 10-15 innings there.

I'm just saying, the Pigs are two games out with an elimination number of four. The Lehigh Valley rotation has never been any great shakes obviously but does giving three of your last five starts to pitchers who have never pitched at this level (with this ball, and this strike zone) mean it's more important to give them the work than to see your AAA team in the playoffs or do they also think that they may well be better than the likes of Drew Hutchison and Plassmyer anyway?

I suppose they are pretty unlikely to avoid elimination either way.

I have tix for Sunday's Pigs' game and would love for it to be meaningful.

Pigs and CLW both win. CLW game today for all the marbles.

Crawford was named MVP of the rookie league yesterday. Congrats to him!

That's a pretty nice award for a "Slap Hitter" as someone called him ( I won't divulge). good thought Andy. Maybe due to age they might be thinking of sending McGowan to the AFL.

The Pigs are not trying to get worse obviously. They don't have great starting pitching. But the short term prospects of McGowan helping are not great either (different ball, lack of experience, innings limit). The move is about the prospect mainly and it is not as if he is replacing Zach Wheeler so it probably won't be a negative.

The AAA season extending beyond the other leagues was in part designed for these showcase scenarios, playoff or not.

Yeah my family is going Saturday and I'm afraid even that one won't be meaningful. Hopefully at worst the Pigs only lose once over the next three days and the Bulls drop a couple which would at least give you a shot.
