Lehigh Valley IronPigs expect to be tops in minor league baseball attendance

Hays 0-4, 2 R, BB. Turnbull 2 IP, 2 ER, 1 HR in today's uncertain rehab.

I think I'd be really nervous about activating Turnbull as part of a 12-man staff. Maybe if we go to 13 in the next round. Assume Hays will be back for a few games this week but largely in a platoon role. It will be interesting to see which utility player (Wilson, Clemens, Stevenson) are demoted. Wilson is arguably the best player of the 3, but has the least defined role if Hays is back. Tough decision for DD.

I don't think Turnbull is really in the picture barring emergencies or him making progress in sim games over over the next two weeks. I've seen some say the 12th pitcher will still be Walker, though I think that should only be the case if you are sure the role is little-to-no-leverage/mop-up (and if to that could just as easily be Allard). If it's, "guy you can trust to pitch the 12th inning" it ought to be Lazar. And if you really do get into a long extra-inning game late in a series, you probably risk using a starter if it's must win or close-out.

Some also think they will go 12 pitchers the whole way. If that's the case I'd think Clemens is the odd man out. You can hit Stevenson for Rojas straight-up when called for. Or you can hit Wilson for Marsh and then put Stevenson in the game. You can also start Stevenson over Rojas against RHP whereas there's no place you'd do that with Clemens.

Curious that the Phillies are not saying "no" explicitly when Painter and Arizona are mentioned in the same sentence. Assume we'll find out rosters this week.

And one more thing - Darick Hall does note the end of the season in style. Will miss him if he is off to greener pastures.

Ah that is awesome for Hall. I'm sure he'd be welcome back if nobody offers him a better shot at getting back to the bigs (which I'm not sure he has). Seems like if he'd wanted to go to Asia he would have already, but maybe 1-2 years of being away from (or uprooting) his family would be worth it.

Yeah, they changed their tune on Painter once the started throwing at full effort huh?
