Also worth keeping an eye on 18 year old Johan Rojas, a centerfielder. Single, double and triple today, all he has done since he debuted last year is hit. Kiley McDaniel, a pretty well respected follower of the minor league circuit and international talent, was asked if the Phils are behind most teams because they almost never sign one of the higher priced international talents. His answer was interesting.

He said the Phils are well regarded for their ability to sign under the radar and less expensive talent and are actually considered one of the better organizations for mining international talent. He also commented that they are ahead of the game in signing Aussies and South Koreans.

Perhaps Rojas will fit into that category someday.

A second consecutive great night in the stateside minors:

Cole Irvin and Nick Williams, Rob Brantly, and Shane Robinson led the Pigs to a big win,
Bohm, Moniak, Damon Jones, and the bullpen give Reading the win,
Glogoski, the bullpen, and a balanced offense (Ortiz 2 hits) lead CLW, (Glowgoski's runs were inherited runners who scored, he was removed on pitch count or injury in the 5th.)

GCL West rides the bottom of their lineup and 7 pitchers to a win.

Leonel Aponte didnt show much stuff-wise. Sat around maybe 90 mph. Still projectable with room to fill in though. Trying to find something to like at Williamsport is tough so far this year.

The best thing about WMPT is the hitting since the draftees have started to play. They have 7 or 8 guys who are really hitting well in a pitchers' environment.
