Speaking of 3rd baseman, I have been mentioning Luke Williams for a while now as a guy to keep an eye on and in his last 10 games he is 17-37, with 4 home runs and 12 RBI and only 3 KO. Even more interesting to me, the Phils have recently played him in CF and 1b, which indicates to me that they are once again viewing him as a prospect. Given their new philosophy of valuing players who can play multiple positions, this appears promising for the still young Williams.

Also, Pujols continues to hit and so does Hernandez, although he was removed from a game two days ago and didn't play yesterday, which might indicate some kind of injury.

Squire mentioned it a couple of days ago and its worth repeating...seems that most of the young Phillie prospects not named Randolph are hitting well. Hope it continues.

Williams' resurgence has definitely surprised me a bit. It really feels more like things are coming together for him (the baseball skills catching up to his athletic skills) rather than his spending lots of time at a level and mastering it. He has never repeated a level. If he did I am sure his stats would be better, though maybe that would not have been better for his development if other parts of his game like defense were always good for his level.

The multiple position moves do seem pretty intentional. Part of it may still be his profile does not overwhelm one for a 3B who projects to have below average power. But his combination of glove and speed and (hopefully) other offensive skills may be a good fit for a multiple position guy. All in all a good development and yet another reason to draft guys with some tools because it always gives you options down the road for them.

Green had his career derailed a couple years by injuries, but he is bouncing back with a vengeance this year.
Combined with Luke Williams and drafting Bohm, 3B is no longer an organizational black hole.

Seeing all the hitters rebounding, I have to think there have been major changes in batting instruction, and this may counsel patience if they're reworking swings and approach to hitting.

Another home run for Williams! Thats 5 in his last 11 games after having hit only 4 in his entire career up to then. Interesting day yesterday, there was a point where it appeared the Phils might have an 0-6 day, the two GCL teams had lost, Reading was getting blasted, Clearwater was behind, LHV was tied 1-1 o the road and Lakewood was leading 1-0 [and you figure they can't throw shutouts every night!

Well, they not only did, winning 2-0, but LHV scored 3 runs late to win 4-1 and Clearwater rallied in exciting fashion to win 6-5 n 10 innings. As per usual lately, there was lots to like...Haseley with 3 hits, the aforementioned Williams with another home run, Damien Jones with another great start, Zack Green continues to rake, and Hector Nerris with a solid 8th inning.

IIRC, Nerris was at his best a couple of years ago in the 8th inning role before turning it over to the closer in the 9th. Maybe thr Phils should consider returning him to this role?

One more thing worth noting...minor league system is now +15 in the W-L column after being at a low of -14 earlier in the campaign, a =29 turnaround. Yes, yes, I know winning isn't paramount, development is, but its best when you can combine both.
