Jim Peyton reports that Roman Quinn, Jan Hernandez and Simon Muzziotti are all playing in an intrasquad game this morning at the Clearwater Complex so that's good news.

heading out to see the r-phils tonight. our grandson gets to work out (little league) on the field before the game. i'll see what kind of report i can give on jose' and "funky cold". hopefully good ones.

Good days for Bohm, Medina & Moniak

Nice night for baseball in reading. double header no less. medina started the first game. the squirrels run scored on a squib infield single to listi at third. medina was in the 90's most of the game with highs of a few 94's. i wasn't that impressed by him, until i looked up and saw the few amount of hits that he gave up and only 1 run. it was a "very quiet" good pitching performance. he had some k's with some type of off speed at 84-86. moniak was clearly upset with the umpire on a called third strike early in the 1st game. he let him know about it and also let Hall know about it as they were passing for hall to come up. he later hit as line drive tripled down the line in right field (stayed on a breaking pitch from the starting left hander. Hall, by the way, hit one out of the stadium in right field. it cleared the Tower health sign and the brick wall of the stadium. it bounced on Rt 61 into the parking lot of the business across the street. Also off the lefty starting pitcher. never saw one before. i heard the bull hit one out in left field and i'm sure a few more have done it, but this one was crushed. the second game taveras started and i know he is coming back from injury ( not sure what it was) but he had only 1, i saw at 90. everything "fast" was 88, 89. had some nice junk and gave up 4, but they scored on a bloop single to center and one to left. i thought mOniak could have had the one in center as it hung up a long time. the one in left was a broken bat hit. i guess taveras is now considered a "crafty" pitcher. i don't see him making it with what he has now. Moniak drilled 2 in the second game. a line single to center and a real nice drive to left center off the wall for a double. listi cleared the bases with a double to plate 3 in the comeback inning. just before that, hall hit a frozen rope to the wall in center 400 ft. that the center fielder caught it as he ran into the wall. line drive that i thought was over his head but he made a great catch. beautiful swing of a 96 fastball. he crushed that one too. Corny didn't look good at all at the plate. i think he stuck out at least 3 times in the double header. gamboa looked soooo smooth at SS. he has sort of a side arm flip throw on ground outs that are right on the money. relievers looked ok. brogdon sp? looked 160 soaking wet, but got the save in the second game. they scored some runs off of him as he walked a few, but should have been out earlier as a batter hit a deep drive to left, that Camara went to the wall and had his glove up and it fell out and he fell over. shades of Luzinski and "Black Friday". i think mickey might make it as his hits were struck pretty solidly. medina could also. certainly not as fast as i had heard he was, but decent off speed stuff. Great night at the park and just got the fireworks in about 3 minutes before the thunderstorm hit. it was lightning all around the stadium, but it worked out. got wet on the run to the car.
