It will be interesting to see what organization Walding ends up with next year.

Walding and Cozens both have 2 option years left. No idea how tight the 40-man roster decisions will be yet, but there is a case for players like them to stay where they to provide low cost major league help next year. Usually a guy like Walding will have used his options before he got to this place. Walding was not good enough to need to protect in 2015, 2016, and 2017 after the season so his option clock started late. He is probably good enough for a regular major league bench role even if his biggest use to the Phillies is to provide flexible depth and be on the LHV-Philly option train for another year.

A lefty bat who can play 3B is not uninteresting but he or Plouffe may have to be DFA'ed this season for Florimon. Would make more sense to keep Walding long-term but Plouffe is sticking so far.

Valentin will be rejoining the mix with LV.

This is a decision the front office will have to make. Who do they want to retain? Who can they risk exposing to loss? Who do they just cut and move on? Clearly, they have though Walding has a future and in spite of his poor performance in very limited ML action this season, they may still see value in keeping him. All part of multiple decisions they will face.

Walding was 5 for 7 with 3 home runs, a double, and 10 RBIs in the double header for the Bacons.

At the moment, the Phils have a full 40 man roster, plus Eickhoff and Florimon on the 60 day DL. Asdrubal Cabrera and Trevor Plouffe are the only pending free agents in that group, so it's pretty clear that a number of guys on the 40 man will have to be removed one way or another, and there aren't all that many easy cuts.
