I think Altherr looks good at the plate, too. Don't want to lose him. Hope they trade Williams or option him to LV waiting for the inevitable Quinn injury.

You're probably not wrong about the part where Williams would be back sooner than later but in the end I don't mind losing the guy who will be 29 years old and due for around $2 million next year, has an injury history himself and probably isn't that much more of a true CF over the two younger cheaper, and arguably more promising players.

Plus if Altherr actually has an upside that isn't just, Ben Francisco/John Mayberry Jr., he deserves the chance to find out. (So does Williams, but his short-term value/long-term trade potential is higher).

Of course Quinn could stay down there for another two weeks if they want, no?

It would be great if they could deal one of Altherr or Williams for something of some value. I'd hate to just lose one for nothing. A prospect or two at the low A level could add to the minor league system.

They'll give Quinn another week of AA and/or AAA, but he should be back up soon. 3-3, HR, BB, SB, SAC. He's probably too good for High A these days. They have to bring him up by the 24th (20-day rehab limit). No Spring Training at bats, so it won't be for a little while.

I think they said publicly he's scheduled to play one more full 9-inning game (Monday?) then be recalled, so it's sooner rather than later.

It would be nice if ESPN+ added some minor league baseball. The college basketball was pretty good in my free year with them. It looks like they have a fair amount of college baseball, though mostly in the 2nd tier conferences that have basketball agreements with them. But nothing on the minor league front so the rights must be tied up in MiLB for the most part nationally.

I have to disagree. I would NOT like to see any video rights that are not already in the hands of the cable industry move there, to become hostage to exorbitant cable fees that people pay (even if, in many cases, they really cannot afford to), and which result in the subsidization of cable "channels" that are either worthless garbage (and that people would never pay for individually), or worse, that are actively corrosive of our society. Those of you that fork out $120/month so you can watch sports need to reflect on the fact that you're subsidizing both crap and insidious corruption of our common institutions. Your choice, of course; but you should be aware of what your money is underwriting.
