PS, who is the James Smith playing LF for the Phils today. He's listed as a 22 yr old rookie who was not drafted and has not played pro ball before. Smith is 3/3 with a double and a triple.

Ump seems to have a very big strike zone...lots of called strike 3s and only one walk in the game through 6 innings.

He is an UDFA with no doubt, very little, if any, signing bonus - until the Phillies know what they have with him, I doubt he displaces anyone in Williamsport or Lakewood. And he was hitting .045 prior to today's game so he needs a lot more quality games before being moved up.

how about the day for Herrara (DSL White) 5 for 5 with double and a homer. 18 year old 6'3" third sacker. i guess he might be a little old for the DSL. Maybe a late bloomer. it's good to dream. Look out Bohmie, there is someone lurking. also good start for the 16 year old Geraldo.

Herrera did get an announced bonus in 2016 ($100K) so there are probably some tools there. Of course second year in the DSL is never a great sign, but at least he is improving.

GCL West loses in the 9th inning 6-5 but perhaps the 3 most interesting offensive prospects (Garcia, Gutierrez, Stewart) all get 2 hits.

Scheiner has played 1B, 2B, 3B (majority of his starts this season), and LF as a pro.

He's 22 (23 next month) in low-A. Fringe prospect right now.

Gone before we picked Bohm. Nice streak for him. I think we both liked him ahead of Bohm if both were there at 3, right? I'm still OK with Bohm if he can stick at 3B. We have a lot of good young catching depth in the minors.

Even in college Bohm needed to make some adjustments at the plate- he's really good at going the other way, but hits the ball the ground too much, and may have a bit of trouble with the inside pitch. I don't think the changes he needs to make are as substantial as the ones Haseley needed to make when he was drafted. Bummer that he's not killing it, but i have more faith in him that he'll be an impact hitter than the other recent #1s.
