Manuel Urias off to another good start. Really curious to learn more about him since guys that repeat DSL are generally not great prospects. But I think he was pretty raw when signed and clearly at 6'6", 200 he has some room to fill out. He has given up 3 runs all year before today.

In GCL two of our better pitchers going today (Ramey and Vargas). Unfortunately against each other. Root for pitching early and then offense later when the lesser pitching prospects enter the game?

Rios was DFA - not released. Presumably, the Phils will ask outright waivers, and if he's not claimed, outright him to AAA. Or do you know something we don't (e.g., DFA, pending unconditional release waivers)?

It was a DFA in the articles I saw. He likely has a good chance to get through since he has been pitching so poorly. He should not have enough service time to request free agency.

No, my statement was more about the noun (Davis or Rios) than the correct verb, just being imprecise.

Rios could also be traded of course. For nothing, or maybe just included in a deal since there's only one day left to make one

(I hadn't thought about that implication - if you DFA someone in August now they either have to be claimed or will more easily go to the minors, assuming they can't/don't refuse. Also, there's still nothing stopping teams from DFAing anyone, and they are still revocable, right? A very unlikely scenario but in theory the Dbacks could put Greinke on if they don't trade him and see if anyone wants to take all of the $. Except that unlike August "trade waivers" any move would also be annnounced.

Bohm was probably due to hit some kind of a rut here somewhere....from about April 15-July 15 he flat-out raked. He's now 5-35 in his last 10, but only 4 k's. So maybe part of it is some bad luck, maybe a little fatigue during the "dog days" here. Hopefully he's able to pick it back up soon & finish strong. He'll be fine.
