Need to find 2017, but Clearwater has been average or slightly above average for HRs the last few years. It is below average for offense in general (larger foul area?) but not for HRs.

On all three homers his swing was nice and short to the ball while turning on inside pitches. I think one of them wouldn't have gone out in Clearwater. Definitely a line-drive oriented swing.

Logan O'Hoppe = Logan O'HItter? Starting to be more than a small sample size.

His BABIP is .643 (going into today) ... I'm not sure that's sustainable.

He hasn't had many extra base hits up until today, but he added a homer and a triple to bring his ISO up to .200, which is more than respectable.

He has 32% line-drive rate (until today) and is a pull hitter, pulling 61% of his batted balls.

Here's a scouting report:

O'Hoppe, an 18-year-old from Long Island, played in high school with a wooden bat after his high school conference banned metal bats. He batted .511, was the league’s MVP, and won the triple crown. O’Hoppe is touted for his work behind the plate and his strong arm. He’s committed to play at East Carolina. He was projected to go earlier than the 23rd round, so O’Hoppe may require a nice bonus to join the Phillies.

“Our director of international scouting Sal Agostinelli knows him very well,” Almaraz said. “Sal comes from that area and he has scouted him since he was 14, 15 years old. Alex Agostino, our area scout, built a great relationship with him and he’s definitely someone who has the chance to be an outstanding receiver with some power down the road.

I think the key is the wooden bats - even though the college metal bats have been "deadened," so that power numbers now translate, they don't have the dead spots of wooden bats and hitters can develop bad habits.

You see a lot of college hitters requiring that first year to adjust to wood bats, while college pitchers have to learn to pitch inside - one reason the summer wood leagues are a good check on a college prospect.

I think more than how well he's hitting is that the walks are starting to come as well...he'll obviously come back to earth but if that is around .300 then we got exactly what we thought we got.

Same thing can be said for Conrelius Randolph...
