So, in general the Phils best prospects are in the lower minor leagues when you look at all the lists. Once again proving that team record of minor league teams is INCREDIBLY irrelevant, our lower minors contain the guys we hope are in the future and those are the teams that really cant win (so far, only 8-11 games so far).

I'd say team records count more in A ball, where you have few ringers, and least in AAA, where your lineups are often loaded with professional AAA players.
But since progress is what matters, second half records count more than first half records.

Wins and losses (wins really) only matter when you have a young team for its level. And even then they don't matter that much. Our Lakewood team is really young so it does not matter there. Clearwater is closer to average in age so it matters a bit more there, but still not as much.

Our prospects are a little top heavy at AAA and AA and they are now not super young for those levels so I don't think the good record means too much other than we have some decent prospects at those levels surrounded by older veterans.

Bohm starting to get on base more...hopefully it continues and he gets moved up to Clearwater.

I am actually encouraged by the early season performances of Moniak and Bohm, both of whom are hitting well in very cold weather. I have also finally come around to the thinking that I am more interested in the performances of the teams prospects than I am in the team's won/lost record.

Because of promotions, trades and subpar performances by supposed top prospects [Randolph for one] the organizational depth of the Phillies is probably somewhere in the middle of the pack now but the reality is that the big club has enough young talent that they don't need lots of minor leaguers to come through, they simply need a few of them to come through in a big way. Bohm and Moniak would fall into that category.

Romero was pretty awful at the start of last year as well.

I remember it the same. He's going to have to figure that out at some point....the season starts in April.

Some guys take a little while to adjust to each new level JoJo is only 22 in AAA, so he certainly deserves time to adjust.

Really hard to draw too many conclusions on Romero after 2 starts and 8 innings. Against the same team (SWB) that is pretty good and in bad weather. He is a few months younger than Spencer Howard as Allentown pointed out his age.

I am also not sure we can point to any sort of pattern yet. If 2017 he was consistently good at the beginning of the year as he went through Lakewood pretty quickly. He is also a California guy that went to college in Arizona, so he probably has not pitched in a great deal of cold weather. Let's check back in after a dozen starts to see where he is.

My point is we don't need six Lehigh pitchers to be ready to start in the Show this year, 2-3 is more than sufficient, same with their bullpen, Arano is already back, Rios is a candidate and so on.

With pitching, always go with safety in numbers, watching Halladay and Lee break down (or the Mets rotation the last few years) makes you realize that all pitchers are gambles.
