Cole Stobbe got a hit. Things can't be too bad...
In general there are a bunch of low round college pitchers from 2019 and NDFAs from 2020 playing that we have not seen much of. I guess we kind of know it is a below average system so what really matters is the top 10-20 players and while their performances have been uneven, they are not awful. Abel showed good stuff. Stott and Garcia are playing decent ball. Rojas and Martin have their moments surrounding their rawness.
I wish the arms were deeper at AA and High A, but we kind of knew they were not going in. Plus I think we are getting fewer DSL promotions this year because of the roster limits. Some pitchers that might have been in Clearwater will be in the DSL an extra year.
A small positive from yesterday from the starter who superficially had a bad game. Jordi Martinez got pulled in the middle of an inning after 28 pitches because his control was all over the place. He is also a 20-year-old LHP who had not pitched above GCL and was sitting 94-95 with the makings of some offspeed pitches. In other words, he is a prospect.
