Great start yesterday in the three road series! Let's try to keep that up... (Jersey Shore seems to be asleep through 4 innings...) I'm beginning to get pretty worried about Hao-Yu Lee who just doesn't seem to have regained his pre-injury stroke.

It is really a brand new Ethan Wilson this year. Another HR yesterday. Hitting .351 with 4 HRs and an 1152 OPS. Only 5 Ks in 37 plate appearances. He has not played as much as Ricketts, but Jordan Dissin down in Clearwater might be the better catching prospect. Hitting .345 with 6 BBs against only 8 Ks and a 1043 OPS in his age 21 year.

Wen Hui Pan starting this time and dominant again. Still not scored upon and very efficient with his pitches. Just blowing people away and throwing strikes. For the year he has thrown 11 innings and given up 3 hits, 0 runs, walked only 2 and struck out 15. That is Pan in the photo (wearing Curt Schilling's number!).

Wilson really is a great story so far (small sample size warning). He has a great pedigree, but it would be pretty unusual for him to go from where he was the last couple of years to a 1000+ OPS masher in one off-season. Here's hoping we got lucky this time!

I do wonder if players that play their first full season at Jersey Shore just get dragged down by the park over the course of the summer. Bad habits form and they press. Maybe Hao Yu Lee is experiencing some of that too this year. When Wilson got promoted to Reading late in the year he just did not have enough time to get his stroke back. Wilson also was a college junior drafted after 3 years when he lost most of one of those years because of the pandemic.

Here's hoping anyway.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Jersey Shore is a bit harder than the norm for hitters and better for pitchers, Reading is a bit better than the norm for hitters and worse for pitchers.

I think that is the same link I posted in the embedded tweet above. Though if one can get beyond hating Twitter, that Phillies development account does post a bunch of highlight videos most days. Ethan Wilson HR is on that from last night too.
