He threw his change up a lot more than he has in the past- it was a good pitch for him. His slider is hard, but it frequently doesn't seem to fool hitters, I think because it can have too much break and get slurvy. Later in the game it tightened up and showed better.

Vito Friscia is my favorite Phillies minor league position player. Not as a prospect, but as a guy I love to watch. He is sooo strong- he's like if Gabe Kapler was Italian and a Sopranos character. If he could just find a way to hit .270 in AA and AAA. he'd get to the big leagues and be an instant piece of Phillies folklore.

I never heard of him before, Fish. when I went to the game on Thursday night I saw him in LF. I thought it was Ortiz at first. tall muscular build. then when Ortiz was up I realized it wasn't him. you are correct. this kid is a strong looking kid. he drilled a frozen rope, deep into the Left center gap to bring in 2. very solid hit. it would be nice if he would get on a run and move into a prospect status.

Vito Friscia is my favorite Phillies minor league position player.

Strange stats. He's 25 at AA, but that's not so bad, since he's a catcher. He's tall for a C at 6'-3". This season he is the exemplar of the three true outcomes. He has an outlandishly high walk rate, to give him a .400 OBP with a BA of like 210. Ks in a third of his ABs and has 6 HRs in the early (and cooler) part of the year. He's always had a good walk rate and almost always struck out a ton, walked a lot, and had at least reasonable power, but this season those stats are on steroids. A 40th round draft pick.

He’s not a catcher, even though that’s the first position that pops up on his profile- almost entirely a DH this year, 1B last year. Not a prospect, but a fun guy- another Long Island guy.
