Crawford had a hit in the first game that was a thing of beauty- on a good slider strike on the outside he lined the ball the opposite field almost hitting it out of the catchers glove with super quick hands like Tony Gwynn would.

Boyd with bunt single like he’s already perfected the art.

And the difference between McFarlane and Cabrera is that batters consistently swung through a belt high fastball from McFarlane and clobbered the ones from Cabrera.

Jake Cave - Ho hum - 1-3, HR, 2 BB, 4 RBI - Just another day at the AAA office.

I gotta admit I'm still not sold. He did the same thing in spring training and it didn't translate. And last year we sent Vierling to AAA and he put up an .800 OPS but he was basically the same sub-.700 major leaguer once he came back. I realize Cave's numbers in AAA are in another stratosphere but no reason not to give Clemens time in LF or RF if he stops playing 1B (whether for Harper or Hall). And they obviously don't think that much of Cave's defense or ability to play CF since they just claimed another LHB.

And yet somehow it's a RHB they really need.

I gotta admit I'm still not sold.

I mean, I’m not sold…but I didn’t think he looked bad putting up bad numbers in the chance he had. I was impressed with his balance- he hit his share of well hit balls to the opposite field.

That waiver claim for an OF was a little odd since it is not what they need now. Maybe they anticipate moving Muzziotti or Cave or both of them for a better 5th starter option in the near future. Some major league team probably needs Cave now even if it is not us.

It seems like they are also just using whatever roster space they have if there is somebody they like to get a look at him. He may not survive the return of Hall and Marchan.
