Jorge Bonifacio (age 27, former big leaguer brought to Reading to help them out a bit, I guess...) now has a 2.306 OPS after smashing 3 HR in a DH yesterday (and adding a double) for Reading. Reading is 4-17, which is better than the 3-16 where they started the day.

Moniak hit a bomb and Jhailyn Ortiz hit his first two yesterday as well, but there were no wins to show for their efforts...Tyler McKay does not look like he is on track for any kind of career; he was bad 2 years ago in low A and he can't get anyone out in high-A this year.

We seem to be entering the northeastern early summer ball flies out of the park stage, just as Clearwater enters the humid stage where the ball carries less well.

I admit I was thinking of Bonifacio's brother when we signed him and now realize he is a totally different player (not only young enough, but a power guy and not a speed guy). 763 career OPS against LHP in the majors and still young enough that he could help a team that might need a right-handed bat (turns 28 in a week). Defensively challenged (unlike his brother of course who used to be pretty good in CF), so he'll fit right in.

It seems the injury epidemic and depth issues have not been limited to the major league or 40-man roster (and that also has a snowball effect), they just needed more minor league FAs in general. Never say never but we probably won't see Bonifacio or Corell or Tejada (or Jankowski) in MLB this year. I suppose the RHB part is interesting but there's no sign of them parting with Joyce (and if they do it might be to accomodate Haseley). Nor Torreyes, clearly.
