A strong sign that our international scouting, signing, and development problems are still not solved. At least not solved as far as position players are concerned. I would devote a lot more of the budget to pitchers. We seem able to hold our own there and most teams are unwilling to spend in that realm. That's the against-the-grain, Moneyball approach. We have little to lose by trying that approach, since we've certainly wasted most of the money spent on position players -- certainly on OFs. We do better on middle IFs and catchers.
