Painter gives up his first earned run as a pro. Horrible outing for him is still pretty good: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K.

73 pitches so he must have hit his limit here. Assume he is starting to try out other pitches now.

Edit - spoke too soon. Looks like 2 inherited runners scored for the next pitcher so 3 ER. Pitch data had several pitches over 100 topping out at 101.5. Tired in the 4th though (95-96).

So, 3 baserunners, 3 ER, 2 of which someone else let in. I always thought this was a flaw in ERA, there should be a split between the pitchers, if you leave a runner on 3rd and no out when you leave, you get most of the run if it scores. If there are 2 out when you leave you get a smaller percentage based on what base they were on.

Free and easy 95-99 mph, but poor command of his breaking ball tonight and very few changeups. Can't work a game plan when you can't locate.
