Guessing the Phillies wanted to ease NPG in given the injuries and lack of US-based experience also. This is a year for him to show he is healthy and get 300-400 plate appearances (not 500+ as he does not play every day).
He does seem to have a very good hit tool. Power is uncertain of course and whether he has the batspeed to handle better pitching is also in question. It would also be good for him to show he can play 2B. The offensive bar for him rises if he can't. Good start for him though and still young enough to improve all of the above.
