Noah Skirrow with his second decent outing. He was the highest rated NDFA we signed last year so think of him more like an 8th round pick. Ranked 249 out of Liberty though he is Canadian. Still 22 until July. 6.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K.
One thing to watch in Clearwater is we should remember that the new rules might be having an impact. Low-A Southeast is where they are testing ABS, the robo umpires. Looks like walks are up and Ks are down a bit compared to other leagues. Low A also has the 3 throw limit to first base so stolen bases are up and more outside of Clearwater if you look around the league. Johan Rojas and Casey Martin should each steal 50 bases in this environment.
Just a reminder on the NDFAs, here is the BA article with the top 20 ranking:
-3. Noah Skirrow - See above
-9 Billy Sullivan - Hard throwing reliever at JS. 2.2 IP, 3 BB, 3 K
-10 Buddy Hayward - 60 Day IL (TJ surgery in college in 12/2019)
-13 Blake Brown - 3 runs in 2 innings at Jersey Shore. Wild scouting reports could be correct.
-17 Jake McKenna - HS guy should debut in GCL. Picked up velocity in past year
-Other Chase Antle - 60 Day IL also. This is the other guy that hit 99. Not sure what his injury was.
3 of the top 4 guys in Jersey Shore is a good sign. That is where they would have been after Williamsport in a traditional development curve and Hayward is probably on a slower course anyway because of the rehab.
