Andrew Painter doing Andrew Painter things, 5 IP 2 H 1 ER 1 BB 9 K on 67 pitches so far. Using all 4 pitches, more curves that sliders. Has 16 whiffs, 8 are on 12 swings against his secondary stuff.

Isn’t Clearwater low A and Jersey Shores high A? I know I tend to mix this up but know things were changed awhile back.

Yep. Which is why Painter will be in Jersey Shore in a couple of weeks.
They've been stretching him out, but he clearly is too good for low A.

They are not really stretching Painter out much more the last few starts. The difference is he is using more pitches (rather than just his best 2). It is probably why he has given up a handful of runs lately, but it is making him a more rounded pitcher.

No idea about the plan for him. I assume they do want to get him to Jersey Shore at some point, though that is not really the priority. Improving his 4-pitch arsenal is the immediate priority while keeping him healthy on modest pitch counts.

O'Hoppe with a Grand Slam last night. Still hitting over .300 with solid power stats, career high OBP and walk rate, nearly 1.000 OPS.

Painter's stats are just silly. He's outperforming what Dwight Gooden did in A ball. Just hope that the Phillies keep him healthy.

The reason they'll need to promote Painter is that when you overmatch the opposition by that large a margin, you tend to get sloppy b/c you can get away with mistakes. At some point they'll want him to be challenged by better hitters, a promotion to A+ ball isn't exactly "rushing" a prospect.
