I don't know whether to be happy about this (because Brian Barber is good at drafting) or to be sad about this (because we already traded him) but Carson Ragsdale has been really really good this year. Though he is only in Low A. Hard to complain about Coonrod though.

He looks realllly good in his game video. If he were still with the Phils Id have him as a top 7 prospect behind Abel, Stott, Rojas, Marchan, Castillo, and Martin. barf. The next big overhaul this organization needs is in pro scouting.

Is Baron Radcliff the epitome of three true outcome baseball? He is hitting only .073 but actually has an OBP of .320 that is respectable. 10 BBs in the last 3 games. 20 in 75 plate appearances so far. He has 4 hits, 2 of them home runs. 27 Ks. He has put the ball in play 26 times with only 2 hits to show for it. Walk rate was decent in college but not this good.

He probably has too many holes in his swing to make it, but at least he seems to have a solid batting eye.

On a (somewhat) positive note- Tyler McKay (RHP) actually has pretty good stuff, just no ability to command it that I've seen. He looks to be about 92-93 mph with good angle and a high spin rate breaking ball. HIs delivery looks a little short, like if they could get him to extend a bit more there could be more velo. As it is, he has a simple enough delivery so I'm not sure why he struggles so much with his release point.

My old HS coach used to say that walks were possibly indicative of two things...1. a good eye with good strike zone judgment and/or 2. the inability to put the ball into play. This looks like case 2.

Let's talk about all the oddities tonight (an interesting night on the farm, at least).

Cole Stobbe went 4/4 in game 1 of the DH and raised his average to....0.172. I bet that hasn't happened much.

Billly Sullivan got the two-inning save for Reading, pitching to six batters and getting six Ks. He's been really good so far this year.

O'Hoppe was 4/6 in the continuation DH with a double and a homer.

Zabala won game 2 for JS with two perfect innings, but only 3 Ks for him.

CLW scored 10 runs on only 12 hits, almost all singles with no HRs. Every player had at least one hit, and they drew 9 walks.
