It looked like 420+ to the opposite field in left center. Just a nice and easy swing. He probably profiles for us more in a corner once we have guys like Rojas and Crawford in CF, but at least he has the offensive tools for a corner spot along with above average defense there.

Phillies need Mick Abel to take a step forward and that has just not happened so far this year. The stuff is stellar but the command - too many walks, too many HRs, too many multi-run innings - are discouraging for what his ceiling (or trade value) could be. Another mediocre line tonight: 5 IP, 4 ER, 3 BB, HR, 6 K

I always felt expectation were a bit high for him given his age and the lost COVID time. That the younger Painter passed him probably didn't help with those expectations. But BBR still lists him as -3.5 yrs below average pitcher age in AA. He'd only just be getting drafted this year if he'd gone to college.

Seems as though Abel is always in the 90-100 pitch range in 5 innings. He must be running a lot of deep counts in addition to getting into at least some trouble with baserunners.
