Great start for Abel- 6.1 innings, 4 hits , 2 er, 6 k. Great command and he threw a lot of change ups. He usually throws his change like someone is making him throw it. Tonight it was a weapon he looked really confident in. I think he may have been mixing in a cutter tonight too- his riding fastball cruises in on righties, but he was also throwing something 95 that moved ever so slightly away from righties that they didn’t make good contact on. His velo was 95-96, which I wonder if that is more correct for him than trying to correct the Lakewood gun up 3-4 miles to 99-100, because it doesn’t look ‘that’ fast.
