RHP Wen Hui Pan gets the start in FCL today.

FCL first inning report--Pan got out of a bases-loaded, no out situation in the top of the first giving up only one run (Phils contributed an error, too, but the run was earned).

Phils scored 9 in the bottom of the first to give Pan a bit of run support, highlighted by two Caba walks, 2 SBs (one up 7-1), an RBI for Caba since one of the walks occurred with the bases loaded, a single and a GR double by Tait for 3 RBIs, and lots of other hits. Phils sent 14 to the plate.

Tait adds a HR and is 3-3, 2B, HR, 4 RBI. Remember when we were concerned about his slow start after 3 or 4 games?

Batting practice pitchers throwing for the Tigers? Seems they give up double-digit runs pretty often...

I think the domestic roster limits are just killing pitching depth in the low minors. Nobody spends money on Latin American pitching any more and there just is not time enough to develop them before the rule 5 clock catches up with most of them. The better prospects come here before they are really ready, or they spend 3 years in the DSL against questionable competition. Note there is a 70-person DSL roster limit too in place this season also.

Oh boy … 17-year old catcher Eduardo Tait just turned around a belt high fastball at 95 mph for his fifth home run of the year, this one coming off the bat at 107 mph … Tait has more home runs this year (5) in 31 FCL games than he had in 44 DSL games last year (3) pic.twitter.com/XVc0GqZAPw

Tait's OPS up to 890 and he has a 10-RBI lead on the rest of the league (34-24).
