20 yr old Jose Pena Jr with 5 k in 2 innings to close out the Clearwater loss. His stuff has taken a big jump this year- when he was drafted in the 6th round he was popping 95+ as an amateur but the last 2 years his stuff backed up - I frequently saw him at 89-90. This year his fastball is back to 95 but his slider is a real plus pitch- 89-90 mph and super tight. Seems to command his breaking stuff better than his fastball. He’s up to 36k in 24 innings. One to watch.
Flores starting to look like a guy worth a $1.4M bonus, we'll see when he gets promoted.I thought Jersey Shore was a pitchers park?
More a pitcher's park when the humidity is high (at least seemingly). Players complain about the visibility under humid conditions. I also wonder if the prevailing breeze is stronger later in the year?
It would be nice if Flores is progressing, but 3rd year in FCL and batting 8th when they have their "A" lineup out there really tells me the Phillies have soured on him. Still swinging and missing a lot and the defense is only OK.
What is becoming more common is that the visibility is hampered by smoke from Canadian forest fires
Still only 20, may be a case where he needed to fill out a bit. We'll know how they feel given their decision to promote (or not) the next month or so.
