Weekly recap from Matt:
Interesting comments on Keaton Anthony who seems to be hitting well, though not too hard. He is a fairly big guy (6'2", 211) so more power should be possible. Assume some time in the weight room is in his future.
Six 1-hit innings with 8 Ks for Giuseppe Velasquez in his TJ rehab. Probably ready for a higher level again.
Rough day for Rey Cruz, poor guy, 0/5, 4 Ks
Mitch Rupert noted a Dombrowski interview where he said Painter hadn’t been throwing his change much before his last start because of a blister issue, which could explain why his slider was inconsistent (and for that matter even his curve hadn’t been looking as nasty)
Can Caleb Ricketts play catcher? Because he sure can hit
Not sure he “can” hit, but he’s on a 50 AB hot streak for Reading for sure. Weird though, he’s normally really patient and he only has 1 walk in those 50 ABs. I guess when the ball looks like a watermelon coming in you swing at it...
