FYI. OF Matt Vierling has been promoted from Reading to Lehigh Valley.

Getting to be a more interesting lineup at Lehigh Valley. Prospects or guys like Haseley and Kingery who are still young enough to get better at most positions.

It does not look like anyone is moving down, though Cordell may just be saving a space for Jankowski whenever he gets sent down.

Looks like Abel tonight BTW.

I would like Abel so much more if he didn't have an ERA approaching 6

He is pretty young for low A...wouldn't he normally just be moving to WMPT in a normal year? I'm not happy he has a high ERA, but I want to give him time... pitchers develop in strange ways, and move forward in uneven leaps. Let's hope the scouts keep seeing the great stuff.

A high number one HS pitcher used to be moved to Low A after their GCL year. Abel of course did not have that GCL year but his progression and then stumbles this year are not surprising. I suppose innings limits are more of a thing now than when Hamels and Bret Myers were pitching in the low minors. Myers threw 175.1 !!!! innings in Piedmont his first full season. I imagine the Phillies are targeting Abel for more like 80. I think they just want that to be 20x4 in Clearwater than 14x6 in GCL/FCL.

and he didn't just not have a GCL year (or short W'port stint) he also basically didn't have a senior year in HS.

Both Garcias and Rojas are showing signs of promise at Clearwater, all three bear watching, they're the best candidates for a rapid ascent through the system.

Martin is also hitting well, if they can teach him to be more selective than he was in college, potential steal, he has all the tools.

With Vierling promoted, Reading is now the waste land.
