BA notes on Aroon Escobar as a “complex league standout”

Slashing .338/.495/.481, he has more than twice as many walks as strikeouts. As one would expect with that kind BB/K rate, Escobar’s plate skills are pristine. The 19-year-old righthanded hitter has an elite in-zone miss rate of 15.8% and a chase rate of only 17.6%. Escobar’s underlying power numbers are also promising, as his 104.4 mph EV is well above age and league average. He has good quality of contact and gets the ball in the air, but struggles to elevate his hardest hit drives. “

A new name popped up for FCL the last couple of days. Jorge Garcia. 20-year-old OF signed out of Panama that played in the DSL for 2 years and was quite good his 2nd year (796 OPS in 2022). Last year he was injured all year at FCL. This year he is on the Clearwater roster but listed as rehabbing for FCL. Just curious since I know little about him but he might be good enough to go to Clearwater directly after his rehab is done.

Another HR for Tait. After a slow start his OPS is now .801 for the year. Looking forward to the Klassen start also tonight.

And the Yemal Flores I hoped for 3 years ago has arrived in the FCL- .350, 5 hr, 16 RBI and 1.199 OPS at age 20. Only 40 ABs but time to get him to Clearwater to see if his career is going anywhere.
