Jersey Shore observations from Keith Law. Note he lives in Delaware these days so pretty easy for him to write about them.

Several notable prospect performances but Jean Cabrera has the best: 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K.

2 DSL teams and you have to squint real hard at their lineups to find prospects. No mentions on BA’s top 30. They play more 17 year olds than they used to, but still…

Mostly b/c they've promoted the top prospects, the rest are probably guys who won't make waves for a year or two, if ever.
Normally a guy like Tait would be in the DSL at 18, instead of FCL at 17. And they just promoted surprise of the season, Ferrebus.
Most 17 year olds play sporadically, the focus I think is on skills instruction and strength training the first year in the organization.
Pitchers tend to take longer, a position player who isn't stateside by 20 should be thinking of an alternative career.

We still have all of our signing class from this year at DSL so it is not really promotions (other than Ferrebus who was already 18 and clearly deserved it).

Our record is likely a function both of playing lots of 17-year-olds and also maybe not having much pitching. Our hitters are slightly younger than the league average (0.2 and 0.3 for each team) but the pitchers are slightly older (+0.3 and 0.0 compared to the league). So we are age appropriate. The league is just younger overall. We are fielding 2 teams but most MLB organizations do that these days. We have had signing penalties in our classes over the past few years and then spent much of our money on top prospects. So it is probably not a surprise that our depth of DSL prospects are below average for the league.
