All but McGarry were extremely efficient in pitch counts as well.

Phillies made some promotions in minor leagues today. Among them: Ben Brown, a 22-year-old righty having a breakout season, was promoted to Double-A Reading. He had a 3.08 ERA with 105 K/23 BB in 73 innings at High A. Former 33rd rounder.

We'll put this here because it is about a bit more than transactions. A few releases including DJ Stewart who never quite hit enough though was an interesting but rare late round HS pick we signed. We also have the Brown, De La Cruz, and Sang promotions. Starting to get close to minor league assignments for new draftees though I note that Rincones went straight to the IL as I assume the team does not want him to count on the 180-person roster limit and they are fine with him not playing until instructional league.

Our first draftee assignments are Gabriel Rincones Jr and Drew Garrett being added to the roster on the Full Season IL. There are only 6 weeks left of the season, and so while these injuries are unknown, it doesn't take much to be out for the year.

Another interesting July trend has been Scott Kingery. July 8-31 he is 14-44 with 2 HRs, 6 SBs, 11 BBs, and only 11 Ks. 955 OPS. He won't get a callup this year especially with Sosa, but there was always hope he would get healthy and regular playing time would help rebuild his confidence and plate discipline. Infield jobs next year will be wide open. Kingery is someone to watch the rest of the year especially if he can keep it up for another 6 weeks.

Thanks, andyb. Matt apparently found these on the FCL roster (which is where they're now showing up.) Guess I'd better scan all the minor league rosters to see what might be there...

There is going to be a lot of this roster shuffling over the next month. I think we had 15-20 spots on our 180-man limit after all the 60-day IL assignments, but we have signed 31 players (and hopefully 1 or 2 more by 4 PM) so we are going to get a handful of releases and a few players with a minor injury will just get shuffled straight to the IL and then instructional league even though they are probably healthy.

New draftees should not count on the 180-person limit till after the season IMO.
