Water under the bridge now. In hindsight, seeing Velasquez's injury woes, Klentak actually was justified in having concerns about Velasquez's durability and requesting a re-work of the deal. Unfortunately, that re-working which was essentially replacing Fisher with Appel didn't work out too well, although the additional swap of the two Arauzes looks good for us at this point.

I know that, and I am not trying to lower the bridge, just wanted to point out that Phillie scouts did a good job of zeroing in on an outfielder in the Astros organization that even Houston apparently didn't realize was that good.

Where I will disagree with you is in the Arauz comparison. I would take Jonathon Arauz's potential and talent before I would the Phils Arauz, who reportedly is doing it with under 90 MPH fastballs in the lower minors. Most who have seen him pitch doubt he can succeed in the majors this way.

Dylan Cozens off to a tough start in the game today...has left 5 runners on base, including bases loaded with one out, with strike outs. LHV trails 3-2 after 3 innings but had a chance to really put a big rally together when he struck out with the bags loaded.

Dylan ended 0-4 and is now 1-11 in the series. The cause for optimism is that both Williams and Crawford looked as bad at the end of last season as Dylan looks now -- not just this series, after a good May/June he has struggled the second half of the season. Let's hope the Phillies can do a little refinement in FIL, where he should stop in, that winter can do it's work, that he can ingrain improved plate habits in ST, and that a repeat year in Allentown will be the charm, as it was with Williams. The power is still there. For as much difficulty as he has had in pitch recognition and making contact, he has a remarkable number of HRs. The Phillies hitting coaches need to help. He has the Ryan Howard problem. He tries to pull everything. SWB uses the Howard shift on him (and Pullin) and he does a lot of ground outs to 2B when he isn't striking out. I saw both Cozens and Pullin do very well at Reading. That was pre-shift.

allentown...Cozens could become such an important part of the rebuild if he can even become a Joey Gallo type of hitter. I do hope you are right about his potential future. I was following the LHV game last night and you could just feel the balloon pop when he struck out with the bags loaded and one out in a 3-2 ballgame.

One could almost sense the entire series might ride on that at bat, if Cozens gets a hit or better yet, a home run, the Pigs probably win the game, go up 2-0 in a best of 5 series and have all the momentum entering the weekend.

I think the most discouraging thing to me was that it came against a right handed pitcher, not a southpaw that usually befuddles Cozens. He has to be super frustrated right now, almost the guys he traveled through the system with are in Philadelphia now and he seems further away that ever.
