Not a great night in the minors...mostly off-nights for lesser prospects, though.

Howard didn’t give up a hit through 4 throwing 92-98 (mostly 94-95), and what had to be at least 90% fastballs up to that point. He had stretches where he had good command of it, and stretches where he didn’t. By his 60th pitch they started to hit his fastball and the pitching coach called for him to start mixing in breaking balls- he wasn’t commanding his slider but it had decent action. He occasionally showed the ability to get good movement on a two-seamer late in the game.

I think his delivery has to tighten up a bit to improve his command.

My suspicion is that Howard's stats this year are meaningless, they're focused on development and are obviously starting with FB command and pitching mechanics. But if he's throwiing 92-95, t98, that's more than good enough, and will probably go up a notch as he smooths out mechanics and matures physically.

Stuff-wise, he’s just a half tick below Sanchez. Can’t complain about that, he’s just a bit more raw than I think was expected.

Poor Llovera just ran out of gas in the 7th inning. Six shutout innings prior to that. I count it as a very encouraging start. He threw 83 pitches. Although he had 10 starts last season, most of his appearances were in relief.

Llovera is probably one of the reasons for the 2nd GCL club and extra LA signings.
He's 22 in Clearwater, but they've brought him along slowly, 10 starts in the VSL at 19, 10 starts in GCL, jumped to Lakewood last year, 30g, 10 starts, but only 86 IP.

I have him as 92-95, t97, with a changeup and slider. So far in A ball, 127 IP, 138K.
Only 5'11 200, lack of height is probably why he was overlooked.
I think he gets a chance to start for a while, if he develops three pitches he stays a starter, if not, eventually moves to the BP fulltime.

Good example how deep the system is, not even mentioned in the top 30,
I've had him at 69th the last two offseasons.
