In the lineup at 3B which is better than just at DH. Hopefully he plays a few games and is back at Williamsport by Monday.

I understand why they send Major League players on rehab, want to let them get back to shape and their eye back in a setting where winning/losing is meaningless, but honestly, couldnt they just have minor leagues play at the right level? I guess some of it has to do with being at the "complex" with medical staff.

If all goes well, Bohm could play today, tomorrow and Monday with GCL, then rejoin the Cutters next Wednesday after the NYPL All Star Game, which is Tuesday night.

bkeich--yes, a lot of why they send the rehabbers to Clearwater is to be at the complex with medical & training staff coordinating their rehab activities and monitoring their progress until they're ready to return to their proper club.

The medical staff at GCL is probably a hidden reason they added the second GCL team. Clearly they have lots of low level prospects that need playing time. This is balanced by the reality that injury rehabs need to happen and the major league club's needs (and top prospect needs like Bohm) should always take precedence over lower prospects.

The 2nd GCL team gives them more flexibility. I assume they use XST games early in the season for this rehab work also.

Besides the staff I'm sure it's not worth the time (or the money) to make someone like Bohm travel until he's ready to rejoin the team.

Guess that is right. I do remember being surprised that Duran went straight to GCL because they thought he was ready (at least defensively). I am guessing they never anticipated him growing into 20-HR power but it is a nice bonus.
