Its been a while since I can recall a Phillies prospect as hot as Stott is right now. I guess Ortiz around the Winston-Salem series.

Stott with 2 hits already

Stott should really be 0 for 2. First hit was a grounder that the first baseman ran to the bag instead of fielding. Then Stott appeared to get picked off but was called safe. His second at bat was a hopper up the middle where the shortstop tried to throw him out at first instead of getting what looked like a sure forceout at second.

Stott’s third hit was clean. Ground ball just out of the second baseman’s reach. Exit velocity of 94.

Ha, the new pitcher for Portland is named Jake Thompson.

Some random thoughts from watching the Reading game in Maine:

• Almost nobody in the game for either team was a real prospect. Especially the pitchers. Dohy was probably the best.
• Some loud home runs were hit, including one by Stassi. Two of the three Portland homers were bombs.
• The umpiring isn't any better in the minors.
• Does AA ball have a rule against shifts? I don't think I saw an infielder on the "wrong" side of the field.
• The umpires went to check Marconi for sticky stuff before he started pitching in the ninth. Maybe because they don't want to check pitchers after the game is over. (Of course, Marconi didn't make it through the ninth anyway).
• It was a rare thing to see the home team have names on their uniforms but not the visitors.
• At least I got to see someone in a Hoskins jersey. Not sure when I will see the real thing...
• As far as I have seen, Josh Stephen lives in Portland. I've never seen him anywhere else.
• Then again, I have also seen Brock Stassi play for Reading before. In 2015.
