Were you among them Chuck? I didn't think we were still gonna go but my Dad was up for it. Did not make it to the end, still watching now. Not exactly Appel's night and Delino DeShields Jr. was in some ways the most memorable player but plenty of good stuff from the home team (and even more after we left)

No, I had to be home Friday, so I did not go. The fam left after the brief rain. I'm going next month.

I wonder what the word is on Sands. Yet another in a stream of potential major league catchers. Hitting for average but not much power. Is he solid defensively? Not much conversation about him?

I am hopeful they give Guthrie a look-see. Hitting for average at LV, big second half of the year, 21 stolen bases. What's not to like?

Sands is having an outlier offensive year. Teams see his ceiling as a backup catcher. Would probably be better than Knapp was...

I assume either Sands or Marchan gets traded in the offseason because we really only should have 3 catchers on the 40 (along with an extra veteran stashed somewhere in AAA or AA). Marchan has had a sneaky good second half so I think I keep him given a choice. Sands won't get you much, but if they can turn him into a useful relief pitcher with an option left that would be a good outcome.

Andrew Painter’s fastball gets 18 inches of induced vertical break (rise). Try to imagine what that even looks like, and then to tunnel the slider out of the same release point- unreal. The BA podcast said that only Garret Cole and Dylan Cease match/beat that kind of fastball in the majors.
