Abel and Painter have to be the big disappointments for the system this season. Hope was that both would be pitching meaningful games with the Phillies by now. I have not given up hope for both to ultimately find ML success. I hope for Abel in 2024 and Painter in 2025.

McGowan was 94-98 mph with good 2-Seam action during his 3 innings. Slider was a short high 80’a pitch that he didn’t show much feel for. Didn’t notice a third pitch if he has one. A splitter could suit him.

Candidly, I do not think I could have imagined back in March a worse year for our 3 best pitching prospects.

I think they are getting tired) obviously Painter excluded here). pitches could be flat. Arm strength is definately there. hopefully no injuries. Time to maybe shut them down? Nice to see McGowan though, with 3 solid innings. as I mentioned early in the year, don't sleep on him. I think he has a chance to make it.
