Brown is someone to watch, big frame (6'6 230), TJ surgery in 2019, hardly pitched last season. Still only 22.
I’d be more interested in our pitching prospects if they could string together a couple of scoreless innings
Odd start to the season here for Abel. He has allowed only 6 base runners in 6 innings, which is very good. Walked only 1. Struck out 9. Has not allowed a home run. BUT somehow 5 of the 6 base runners he has allowed have scored, which is a bit of a head scratcher to me. Is he easy to steal on? Bad luck in a small sample size? Pitchers with a WHIP of 1.00 should not have an ERA of 7.50.
today in the 2nd for Abel
singleHBPwalkHBP (run scores)wild pitch (run scores)
He also hit a guy in the 3rd
Add tht to his first start and hes allowed:
5 hits, 1 BB, 4 HBP and 2 wild pitches in 6 innings
Thanks for the detail on Abel. Looks like my 9 year old's Little League pitching log.
Makes me wonder why HBP isnt included in WHIP. With the wild pitches its 1.666
He’s having a problem with the consistency on the release of his fastball. Sometimes it’s cutting in a way that doesn’t seem intentional. Then when he’s pitching from the stretch the problem is amplified- cutting, hitting guys, throwing to the backstop. His slider gets better during the game the more he throws it. Couldn’t get his change up down in the zone. His fastball had much better zip than his first start- 94-97.
We’ve got quite the day going so far
Andrew Painter apparently having none of the issues that Abel is dealing with. Another gem tonight!
Winkleman just tweeted painter has 28 career k's in 13 innings.
Unfortunately the game video was messed up to get a good look, but he was 95-97. I like his mechanics a little more than Abel- where Abel gets more life Painter has better downward angle.
Rojas starting nicely, including showing a solid eye early on (4 BB in 35ish PAs).
Morales with another two spotless innings.
The walks are nice, but other than the steals, he's off to a slow start offensively.
