Assume they are still going with piggyback starting rotations in Clearwater if not Jersey Shore. Medina already pitched an inning a few days ago, so he is not likely to go more than 2 or 3 this time. But it is interesting that he was getting some buzz in camp and now they have elevated him to at least part of the rotation.

Brutal misplay of a fly ball in LF by Dalton Guthrie cost the Ironpigs a run in the 2nd inning. Guthrie may have had a problem with the sun. But... he's an infielder; this is the second start of his professional career in LF. Justin Williams went on the IL today...

Fair enough - implies he just misread it, took a horrible route, or some such.

This kind of thing is what happens when a second baseman is stuck in left field because your roster only has two active outfielders.

An entertaining play: Maggi on 1B took off on the pitch. Guthrie lined a basehit to right. Maggi slid into 2B but didn’t know where the ball was. He belatedly broke for third, but the throw skipped past the third baseman. Guthrie broke for second, but the pitcher was backing up 3B and threw to 2B. But the throw sailed over the second baseman’s head. Maggi broke for home, but the throw was wide. Maggi dove in safely while Guthrie took third.

I don't expect much of Dalton Guthrie, realistically. But watching him misplay that ball, it was just like, he doesn't know what he's doing out there - and it's not surprising. He's not a left fielder; he's played there virtually never.

Andrew Shultze was interesting. Lean, athletic build. As advertised with the high 90's fastball and what looked to be a hard, high spin curve. Only thing with him is after he cranks his arm back he has a slight pause that makes it look like he's doing the opposite of hiding the ball- seems like it would be easy to pick up the ball on him.

5 SB for Ethan Wilson in 4 games. That is a bit of a surprise as I thought he was more of an average speed guy.
