Maybe we can actually win a game in the lower minors today...bad start, and all the teams are at home. I think CLW and Jersey Shore have very good rosters, but it looks like they will rotate through all the players rather than trying to play their best lineup every day, which is good for development but can be bad for victories.

Lehigh Valley is playing well, should be 4-1, but lost two runs on bad calls Friday night.

Morales out of the pen for 2 IP, 3 K, zero walks or hits is a nice start to dream on.

Moore (obtained for Haseley) and Warren as well.

We can live with a paucity of talent at AAA and AA with Stott, Bohm, Vierling and Moniak on the big club this season but we're gonna need some young arms to step up, b/c injuries to the pitching staff is about as predictable as the sun rising in the East.

McGowen was not what I was expecting from the reports of his power stuff after he was drafted- he was 90-94 with a good looking sinker. Slider was a nice 82-84 but looked a little slurvey, and his change was decent- though he varied the velo on his sinker enough that his change didn’t look a lot different. Strong build. Very Kyle Gibson/Vance Worley-like looking stuff.

T.J. Rumfeld homered for the Yankees A+ team. But I don't feel that bad because Donny Sands homered for the AAA LHV

Steve Potter's week one highlights, mostly on the pitching side. I forgot where we got Buddy Hayward from but seems he had a nice debut in his first outing since 2019 TJ surgery. No idea if they think De Freitas is a good prospect, but I guess he is only 20 and in full season ball so that is good.

Seeing the McGowan numbers above, they Jersey Shore stadium and TV gun is once again 1-2 mph slow, which matches that Steve reported (likely based on talking with someone with the Phillies) that Mick Abel was 95-97 in his start and that McGowan was 93-96 last year.

I'll throw this post out there too on the extended spring training scrimmages. Some big club news in that Norwood is back and throwing in these games so he probably does not need a tuneup to be activated on the major league roster later this week. Odubel is hitting though not playing the field yet. Kingery also looked good at the plate in this scrimmage:

I was already padding the velo numbers to account for the gun.

I was looking for the thread last night and then remembered - no minor league baseball anywhere on Monday. The worst thing about the new schedule.
